Choice book report
By Eli Knutson
My Choice book was on Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. In this book Harry Potter is the main character. Harry is a brave person as shown when he was defending of the damentors to save his uncle by the lake. Also when Harry was defending himself from his werewolf teacher also while trying to save himself and his uncle he was showing bravery. The first time through was to save his uncle, and the second time he was saving himself. Well it was actually Hermione that was saving harry the second time. So Harry 1 is saving his uncle from professor Lupin (the werewolf) and Hermione 2 is saving Harry 1 with Harry 2. If you don’t get it read the book or watch the movie.
The storyline is that Harry starts at his uncle and aunt Dursley’s house, as always, in the summer. Then his aunt Marge comes for a few nights. On the last night she was there she made Harry really angry and so she literally blew up like a balloon and started floating away. Then Harry ran away from home and got on the knight bus. The conductor for the knight bus’s name is Stan. Harry gets dropped off at the Leaky Cauldron. There is where he meets Fudge the minister of magic. After he leaves the Leaky Cauldron he gets on the train at platform 9 and three quarters. On the train to Hogwarts a dementor comes looking for Sirius Black and ends up almost killing Harry. Once Harry gets to Hogwarts School of witch craft and wizardry the next exciting event is the Boggart in the Wardrobe. A Boggart turns into your deepest fear which is why no one knows what it looks like in its natural form. The next thing is the big trip to Hogsmeade Harry isn’t supposed to go because his uncle didn’t sign a form for it. His friends Fred and George Weasly have a secret map though so he uses his invisibility cloak to get there. Then In his prediction class his teacher predicts a horrible future for him. After that Scabbers Ron’s rat goes missing. Then Harry, Ron, and Hermione go to the shrieking shack and find out the secret behind it and the secret of Scabbars. Scabbars is really Peter Petegrew the traitor to Harry’s parents. Instead of killing him he sends him to Azkaban. After that they go outside and it’s a full moon so Professor Lupin turns into a werewolf and Harry’s Godfather Sirius Black is and anamegous so he turns into a dog and tries to hold him back. Then the Harry saving him part. After that Harry goes down to try and save his uncle from the dementors guarding Hogwarts and he fails to do so because he is too weak. Then when they get back to Hogwarts Ron is in the hospital wing so Hermione and Harry go alone to redo some things with a time turner that had happened earlier that night. Starting from a couple of hours before they went to the shrieking shack.
Part 2
#3) I think that the point of view as harry was chosen because he is the main character. With being the main character the reader has to know what they are thinking in order to understand the book more. That’s not always the case but it is in this book.
I think that J.K. Rowling made it harry because he goes through so many bad things. Harry’s life is like a never ending hill with a couple bumps in it. Anything bad that could happen to him happens to him. He never gets break which puts trees on the hill so he always has to be alert. I guess though that Hogwarts puts a temporary bubble shield on him. So Harry’s life is like skiing down a hill very fast with bumps ad trees in the way just waiting for one to hit him. In this book and obviously the ones before it he has not hit a tree yet. If Harry had a bad day though it could be like him almost hitting a tree but if it was not from his point of view then the reader could possibly not know why at all.
If the Harry Potter Series or even a book would have been written in a different point of view it would have changed the series completely. Say that it was from Hermione’s point of view, the books would not have the infamous Dersleys or any of the bad things that happen over the summer break. You would not read about half the exciting things or terrifying that happen to Harry on if famous life threatening adventures. You also would not read about Harry’s disputes with Ron his best friend to see just how close of friends they are. If J.K. Rowling chose a different point of view they possibly could have not been best sellers or made into movies or even been a world phenomenon. So the point of view chosen was a great point of view and obviously that correct one that made it a good book.
Some of the more intriguing parts of the book were towards the end when they figure out about Peter Petegrew. When harry figures out about Sirius being his godfather and Sirius also wants harry to live with him in the country side. Then Lupin turning into a werewolf, and almost killing them. That general part of the book kept me reading nonstop. I also think that this was a great book because of those parts at the end.
I think that if you haven’t you should read this book Mrs. ClearJ
